The Department of Internal Medicine No. 2 on the preparation of the GP was organized in 1996 on the basis of the 1st clinic of the Tashkent State Medical Institute.

The first head of the department of therapy number 2 is Professor M.T. Rustamova. At the department worked as MD. Azizov K.N. (since 2001), associate professors Mavlanov FM (since 1996), Saidova M.T. (since 1996), Tukhtamuradova DA (since 1996), Sadykova S.I. (since 2000).

For 22 years of work of our department under the guidance of professor Rustamova MT. the staff of the department is expanding and its clinical bases, the equipment of the department has been improved with modern technical means for carrying out scientific research work.

For the first time the department was founded in the pulmonology department – cardiology. In this direction, scientific wor

ks on the topic “Features of the clinical course and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases with cardiovascular diseases in elderly people” were conducted.

Turymbetova MT, postgraduate student Daminov RM , graduate student Miramakhmedova H.T. Candidate’s dissertations are defended by M.Turymbetova, a graduate student. on the topic “Clinico-functional features of the course of chronic obstructive bronchitis in elderly people in the South Priaralye region”, postgraduate Daminov RM on the topic “Tranxen in the complex treatment of patients with chronic ischemic heart disease and GB with anxiety syndrome”, graduate student Mirakhmedova H.T. on the topic “Reactive arthritis, clinical features, course, treatment, prognosis depending on phenotypes of haptoglobin and blood group”.

According to the presented grandee of the State Committee for Science and Technology, researchers of the department carried out research on “Development of modern methods of rehabilitation of patients with coronary heart disease that are not subject to surgical treatment of endovascular intervention, and also underwent surgical treatment for coronary vessels with age.” The state order of the SCST was completed in a timely manner in two years.

Since 2000, the scientific direction of the department is pulmonology – gastroenterology. To solve the scientific problem of the institute “Search for new ways to improve the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment of internal diseases. For 22 years of work, the Department staff has introduced new methods of research and treatment, such as monitoring daily blood pressure, determining the rheological properties of blood, fibrobronchial examination, endoscopic examination of the gastrointestinal tract with the determination of Helicobacter pylori (HP) urease, the determination of the motor function of the gallbladder ultrasound study, immunological studies, weight correction, psychological tests, questionnaire questionnaire for the study of adolescents, a three-component and four-component treatment of peptic ulcer.

It is known that overweight is one of the most common risk factors, whose prevalence in economically developed countries is steadily increasing. According to recent estimates, over 1 billion people on the planet have an overweight (BMI), of which 250 million are obese. Therefore, the department is currently conducting a series of studies on the correction of weight, which are approved at a meeting of the Academic Council: So the applicant NN Khabirova. Ph.D. thesis “Features of clinical course and efficacy of chronic pancreatitis in persons with overweight” was defended.

At the department successfully graduated and defended Ph.D. thesis postgraduate Saliev NA. on the theme: “Clinical course and effectiveness of complex therapy of ankylosing spondylitis complicated by gastroduodenal pathology” and Salimova ND on the topic: “Features of the clinical course of erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastroduodenal zone in adolescents”.

At the department headed by Professor M.T. Rustamova, great importance is attached to the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel. Under her leadership, clinical residents were trained. Khodjaeva U., Kim A., Muminova S., Yusupov O., Makhkamov A., Mirzaeva D., Beknazarov O., Fisenko T., Musakov M. successfully completed clinical residency.

From 2001 to 2005, the department organized a master’s degree in gastroenterology, and in 2008-2012 masters in family medicine were trained.

The staff of the department published over 500 scientific articles and theses from them 21 abroad and over 20 in the near abroad countries. The standards of treatment of gastroenterological patients and several methodical recommendations have been issued.

2003-2011 the department systematically conducted scientific and practical conferences on gastroenterology for practical doctors, scientists with the publication of a scientific collection of abstracts and articles.
